SSAT Middle Level – What You Need to Know

The Middle Level SSAT is for students currently in grades 5-7, applying to attend grades 6-8 next year.

The Middle Level SSAT has four multiple choice sections:  one verbal section with synonyms and analogies, one reading section with passages and questions, and two quantitative sections with math problems.

We currently have two books available for the Middle Level SSAT, described below. The links bring you to the Amazon.com pages where each book is available for purchase. (Test Prep Works is a member of the Amazon Associates program and may earn a commission for purchases you make after following these links.)

NEW IN APRIL 2020 – Kindle editions of all The Best Unofficial Practice Tests books are now available. Each test is its own eBook that can be purchased separately. Links are with the book descriptions below. These are available on Kindle Fire tablets and with the free Kindle app available for Android, iOS (in the App Store), Windows, and Mac, but are unavailable for eReaders such as the Kindle, Paperwhite, and Oasis due to the figures and degree of formatting in our materials. We recommend a 10-inch screen or larger for maximum readability. Answer sheets to accompany these tests can be downloaded and printed from the downloads page.

Success on the Middle Level SSAT — A Complete Course:  This book includes vocabulary lessons, complete strategies for each section (including quick drills to reinforce concepts), in-depth content instruction for the math section including practice sets, and a full-length practice test.

The Best Unofficial Practice Tests for the Middle Level SSAT:  This book contains 2 full-length practice tests for the Middle Level SSAT. The practice tests in this book are based on the latest materials released by the test writers. These practice tests will give you an idea of the types of questions you will see, the concepts that are being tested, the format and timing of the test, and how the scoring works. Please note that these tests are neither produced nor endorsed by The Enrollment Management Association, who develops and administers the SSAT.
